“My house will be my peace.”
For more than 23 years, Sharon Jackson has worked faithfully with BayCare Laboratories, serving as an LMA. She is a devoted mother to three grown children who are carving out their own bright futures—Promise, 30, who is pursuing property investment; Telly Jr., 24, who is passionate about engineering; and Te’Jon, 22, who is working toward a career in plumbing.
Sharon describes her family as loving, social, and full of laughter. “All we know is food, fun, family, and of course God,” she said with a smile. Togetherness means everything to Sharon, and her home has always been filled with joy, love, and a strong faith that carries them through difficult times.
Those difficult times have not been easy to overcome. Sharon recalls seasons of hardship—nights without food, months when the lights or water were shut off—but through it all, she leaned on her faith and pressed forward for her family. “God gives me enough strength to get up every day and put one foot in front of the other,” she said.
When Sharon learned she had been accepted into Habitat for Humanity’s program, she was overwhelmed. “I couldn’t stop shaking. I felt happy, chosen, loved, and cared about all at the same time by the team,” she recalled. She also felt her late mother’s presence that day, when a butterfly appeared in the room as she received her certificate. “My heart was filled with joy knowing I wasn’t there alone—she was there with me.”
For Sharon, this Habitat home is more than a house. It’s a symbol of resilience, faith, and new beginnings. She looks forward to the day she can say, “This is mine.” Most importantly, she hopes her journey will inspire her children. “I am building because I want my kids to have the same sense of ability to know they can do it as well.”
