“Home is where there is harmony and peace.”
Diana Rodriguez has worked for Pinellas County Schools as a Plant Operator for the past five years. Originally from Puerto Rico, she studied at the Institute de Banca, where she earned her Teller certification before moving to Florida. Diana describes herself as a hardworking, responsible, and punctual person who has always dedicated herself to providing for her family. As a single mother, she has faced the challenge of raising her son while working full-time and managing the financial burdens of paying rent with assistance from Section 8. Despite the obstacles, she has never given up on her dream of homeownership.
Family is at the heart of everything Diana does. Her son, Cristhian, is now an adult, but the two share a close bond built on perseverance and mutual support. Diana has always prioritized stability, security, and the values of faith and discipline in her home. She hopes that through Habitat, her story will serve as an example of resilience and determination to others who may be struggling but continue to push forward.
When Diana found out she was accepted into the Habitat program, she cried tears of joy, overwhelmed by the reality of a lifelong dream finally beginning to take shape. For her, Habitat is not just about a house—it is about peace, stability, and the chance to leave behind the stress of unstable rentals. She looks forward to building sweat equity, learning the value and sacrifice that goes into creating a home, and one day walking through the door of a house that is hers. More than anything, she looks forward to the economic and mental stability that homeownership will bring for herself and for her son. For her, “Habitat for Humanity is a blessing.”
