Homeowner Bio: The Crowell Family

“My house will be my safe place.  A place where I can find peace, feel secure, and breathe without carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.”

Albrea Crowell is a dedicated single mother of two who works as an AEFAP specialist while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Services at St. Petersburg College. She is committed to creating a brighter future for her children, Almina, 8, and Horus, 5. Their home is full of energy and excitement, with Almina enjoying anime, drawing, and dancing, while Horus loves playing with cars and games on his tablet.

For the past five years, Albrea and her children have lived in the same apartment, where the children have shared a bedroom since Horus was born. Rising housing costs and ongoing maintenance issues have made finding a larger, more comfortable space difficult. Despite these challenges, Albrea has remained focused on providing her children with stability and opportunities for the future.

When she learned she had been accepted into the Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program, Albrea was overwhelmed with gratitude. A dream she once thought might be out of reach is now becoming a reality. She has also gained a supportive community that has made her journey even more meaningful.

With her new home, Albrea looks forward to giving her children room to grow, feel safe, and create lasting memories. Most importantly, she hopes to build a strong foundation that will allow them to pursue their dreams and break generational cycles.

For Albrea, home is a place of peace, security, and love. As she shares, “I’m building because I want a solid foundation for myself and my children.”
