Volunteer Spotlight: Mark Bryant

When Mark isn’t working in sales for his national food distributor, he is likely found volunteering on a Habitat build site.  “A friend took me to a job site with him over ten years ago, and I have been volunteering in some form ever since. Habitat is a great organization that brings amazing, like-minded people together that selflessly give to help families achieve a dream, and improve the community.”

For Mark, volunteering means “being part of something meaningful and bigger than oneself. Having a place to use any talent I may have to help others achieve a goal that will improve their quality of life is pretty awesome.”

Many Habitat supporters, including Mark, agree that home dedications are the best part of being a Habitat volunteer, as it is always an emotional experience. “Watching the homeowner recipient cry actual tears of joy when they receive the keys to their own home- a safe place for their family. It is wonderfully humbling and gratifying knowing that you helped in some small way.”

“Every day on site is a great day. From the doughnuts in the morning, until we clean up at the end of the day. The challenges we run into keep it exciting, and occasionally you can talk someone into singing a little opera at lunch.”
