Homeowner Bios: The Eddy Family

“Habitat for Humanity is hope. It isn’t just building a house and that’s it. It’s a foundation built on love, respect, happiness, hope and family.”

Hannah Eddy is a Customer Service Rep and Service Staff Support for Clearwater Gas Systems who lives her two cats, Bob and Araura. She describes herself as a very outgoing, yet reserved person who loves to read, relax, and explore new things. Her family and friends are very important to her and she loves to gather together to have BBQs and just to hang out and chill.

Hannah’s current living situation is very challenging. For the last five years, she has been living with her mother and father in a mobile home community. “My dad’s two bedroom, two bath mobile home just isn’t built for three high functioning adults. All my life is packed in to a living room and my closet. All of my mom’s life as well.” It has been a struggle living in the mobile home community because it has a strict 55+ age requirement, so she must keep a low profile in order to not get kicked out of the home.

Hannah got the call that she was accepted into the Habitat program the day after her grandmother passed from cancer. “I felt as if this massive weight I didn’t know I had just melted away into nothingness. I saw hope that I didn’t know I still had. I felt as I did when I was a little girl. I could own a home. My own home. That I helped create. You, Habitat, gave me hope.”

Ever since high school where she took metal and wood shop for three years, Hannah has loved to use her hands and build. She is very excited to start her sweat equity hours and to work onsite.  “I would love to help people build their future. I like knowing that I am giving someone security. I will be able to say to myself, ‘I helped make that dream a reality for someone’.” She encourages anyone thinking about joining the Habitat program to go for it. “If you have ever thought ‘I wonder how a house is built?’, Habitat can show you and get you involved. If you have ever thought ‘I want to do something for someone who would appreciate it’, you will have a feeling of gratefulness and selflessness that will last forever.”

“I am looking forward to have something that I worked for and to be able to call it mine. I will have something that my family can be proud of. Something my future children will be able to say ‘My mom built this home.’ Not just a house. A home.”

Hannah is looking forward to her bright future in her new Habitat forever home. “I will finally be able to focus on me. On my future. On a family. On my security.” Ever since she was a little girl, she dreamed of having her own home to decorate, raise a family, and show off her own style. Now, because of Habitat for Humanity, her dream is becoming a reality.

“Being a part of the Habitat organization so far has been an amazing and uplifting experience, and I know that my future self will be helping other future home owners feel the same.”
