“I’m looking forward to peace, joy, spending holidays with my grandkids, and creating generational wealth.”
For Kesha Washington, the meaning of home has always been about more than just four walls and a roof. It’s about peace, stability, and creating a foundation for her family’s future. After 17 years of working as a certified medical assistant at Baycare Medical Group, Kesha knew she was ready for the next chapter—one where she and her 13-year-old son Kaiden could finally have a space of their own.
That’s why being accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program felt nothing short of life-changing. “My first thought was, God is good. Me and my son will finally have a place to call home, and no one can tell us to leave or get out.”
Kaiden, a creative and curious 13-year-old, dreams of becoming an engineer. “He loves drawing comics, making up stories, and building things,” Kesha says. “His interests change a lot, but I always tell him he can do anything he puts his mind to.”
As Kesha completes her sweat equity hours, she’s found the experience both educational and empowering. “I’ve learned how to paint, install cabinets and shelving, lay flooring, and even do landscaping,” she says. “It’s amazing to be hands-on in building the place we’ll soon call home.”
For Kesha, homeownership means so much more than escaping a difficult living situation. “I’m building because I want a forever home and a safe environment for me and my son.” Habitat for Humanity is helping Kesha Washington build more than a home. It’s helping her build a legacy. You can help families like Kesha’s by Donating Today.
