Homeowner Bio: THE SPIEGEL FAMILY

“With a Habitat for Humanity home you have the opportunity to put your blood, sweat, tears and HEART into your home.”

Ashley Spiegel is a determined single mother whose life has been shaped by resilience, perseverance, and an unshakable commitment to her children. With more than nine years in the medical field, Ashley now works as an Office Manager at VIPcare, where she supports both patients and staff while continuing to build a stable career.

Ashley is the proud mother of two children who inspire her every day. Her son, Brett Jr., is 11 and enjoys video games, baseball, Pokémon cards, and building Lego creations. Amelia, 9, is full of creativity and energy; she loves softball, arts and crafts, beauty activities, and being outdoors with friends and family. Born just 14 months apart, Brett Jr. and Amelia have grown alongside Ashley, teaching her that “the world is at our fingertips if we just keep swimming.” Ashley describes her children as smart, driven, and fearless, adding that they are more her rock than she is theirs.

Housing stability has been a long and difficult journey. Over the years, Ashley and her children have lived with family members, rented from relatives, and now reside in a two‑bedroom apartment where Brett Jr. and Amelia share a room. Despite working full time and earning a stable income, rising rent costs have made it impossible for Ashley to provide her children with the space and privacy they need.

When Ashley learned she was accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program, she was overwhelmed with emotion. “I had no thoughts. I just felt everything all at once,” she recalls. “I was happy, empowered, and so excited to tell my children.” For Ashley, a Habitat home means more than stability. It represents strength, growth, and a legacy she is building alongside her children. “This isn’t just a house,” she says. “It’s our forever—our story—and a place where we can make memories without ever leaving them behind.”
