Homeowner Bio: The Singer Family

“I am building because I want to provide shelter and a better living for my child, dog, and myself.”

For Ke’Aisha Singer, a Human Resource Specialist at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., the dream of homeownership was about more than just having a space of her own—it was about building a better life for her newborn son, Kaizen, and their playful dog, Golden. Living in a cramped home with her mother and brother, Ke’Aisha’s days have been filled with both gratitude and challenge. “I had my son in February and there is no room to place all of his items along with mine to be comfortable within my room,” she explained. “Included in my bedroom is also my office, groceries, and a spot for my dog.”

The tight quarters are only part of the struggle. The home’s dining room ceiling leaks when it rains heavily, and the bathroom is in poor condition. For Ke’Aisha, this living situation was never meant to be permanent—especially now with a baby in tow. When she found out she had been accepted into Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program, her first thought was one of deep relief: “I can finally have stability and a place where my son can grow up and call home to live comfortably.”

She’s most excited about the simple joys that come with having her own space—decorating her home, organizing her life, and creating a peaceful environment for her family. “My house will be filled with love, joy, and happiness,” she said with a smile. “Home is where I want to be and what I make it!” And to those considering volunteering with Habitat, she offers powerful encouragement: “You can help change a life and make an impact in someone’s life and not even know it.”
