Homeowner Bio: The Roundtree Family

“I am building because I want a better future for myself and my family.”

Annie Roundtree is a Concierge CNA who has been working at the same company for over 20 years. She has two children: Ricky, an 18-year-old who is attending community college and is interested in stocks, sports, and real estate, and a 22-year-old daughter who recently moved out with friends. “My kids and I are very close, but we became more involved with each other after the loss of their father in 2017.”

The Roundtree Family used to live in a more favorable apartment, but was forced to relocate to an overcrowded community in a neighborhood that is not the best after a tree fell on their last apartment. After struggling with her last living situation, Annie was very excited when she heard the news that she was accepted into the Habitat program. “I was so excited that I would never have to worry about renting again and I would have a home to call my own for me and my family.”

Annie is eager to begin her future in her new home and is excited to move herself and her son, Ricky, into a better environment. The family worked hard to complete the classes and sweat equity hours to meet their requirements. Annie says, “It was a great challenge, but it was worth it.”

“I will feel safe, secure, and proud of owning a home.”

The Roundtree Family home was dedicated on August 20th, 2021.
