Homeowner Bio: The Lindsey Family

“This is something I dreamed of most of my life. I will have my own home.”

Cherry Lindsey is a resilient single mother in the Habitat for Humanity program along with her 18-year-old son, Sedrik. Cherry’s story represents the aspirations of many hardworking individuals seeking stability and a place to call their own.

Her determination shines through her words: “I’m a hard worker, love football, and love to attend church.” For her, the cycle of paying rent has felt like pouring money into a void. Years of moving from one place to another have left her yearning for something more steadfast in life – a true home where she and her son can thrive.

Cherry gets excited as she anticipates both helping others in the Habitat for Humanity community and contributing to the construction of her own forever home. “I am happy and excited to help other HOCs out with their homes…and enjoying the moments actually working on a home that I will be living in for the rest of my life.”

Cherry envisions a future where her house is not just a dwelling, but a sanctuary. “I will be at peace and will feel stable knowing that I will have my own home. It is more exciting than anything…to own my forever home.” She eagerly looks forward to the little joys of everyday life – decorating her home, cooking in her own kitchen, and embracing the freedom of having a yard.

For Cherry, this journey is the realization of a lifelong dream. “This is something I dreamed of most of my life – to have my own home.” Her house will be a testament to her hard work and resilience, providing a place to relax after a long day and a sanctuary for the simple, precious moments of life.
