At 29 years old, Jocelyn Klasky is building a future defined by resilience and hope. She currently works as a Child Care Licensing Specialist with the Department of Children and Families, where she ensures children have safe, nurturing daycare environments. Though she has only been in her role for four years, she brings with her many years of experience and passion for working with children.
Jocelyn has faced significant challenges in her life. Born with cystic fibrosis and more recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, she has learned to navigate health struggles while maintaining her independence and her dedication to her work. Even while managing two jobs to make ends meet, Jocelyn continues to put her heart into serving others.
Her current living situation, however, has been financially and emotionally draining. With most of her paycheck consumed by rent, Jocelyn has often been forced to choose between bills, food, and medical care. “The constant stress of trying to make ends meet is overwhelming,” she shared. “This situation is not sustainable.” That’s why being accepted into the Habitat program was such a turning point. “It felt like a light at the end of a very long tunnel,” she said. “For the first time in a while, I allowed myself to think about a future that wasn’t just about surviving, but truly living.”
With her Habitat home, Jocelyn looks forward to the peace and security of having a stable, affordable place that is truly her own. She dreams of cooking meals in her own kitchen, creating a space where she can rest, heal, and continue building the life she’s been working so hard for. “I am building because I deserve a safe, stable place to call home—a foundation where I can grow, heal, and create a better future for myself,” Jocelyn said. “This home will be my peace, my stability, and my fresh start.”
