Homeowner Bio: The Jones Family

“I am building because I want better for my kids and I. I’m eager to break generational barriers and give my kids a better life than I had.”

Xavier Jones is a single father, a Spray Tech for Pinellas County, and is on his journey to becoming Habitat’s 900th homeowner. He has three children, 13-year-old Xaviah who enjoys doing make-up, 10-year-old Xavier Jr. who likes fishing and sports, and 8-year-old Xanae who enjoys dancing and cheerleading. Xavier describes his family as very tight-knit and they enjoy spending time with one another.

“The most challenging thing to me is not being able to raise my kids comfortably under one roof,” Xavier explains. “I’m very family oriented and spending time with my kids every day is something that I’m real big on. My mom was a single parent so I know how it feels to not have the other parent present. That alone pushes me to be the best father I can be to my children.”

When Xavier was first accepted into the Habitat program he felt overwhelmed with excitement. He knew he was now one step closer to where he wanted to be in life. “I knew this was going to be a big deal for me and my family and also set me up for success and more stability for us. Such a huge blessing!”

In his new home, Xavier imagines his life to be more peaceful and comfortable for his family. “I’m excited to start creating memories with my family,” he explains. “Just having that stability means a lot!”

Volunteers are at the heart of our organization. “Volunteering on build sites is one of the best things about this program. You learn a lot from working on the sites and being hands on in the process of building your home as well as others. It’s actually a wonderful thing to be apart of!” For more information on how you can get involved and volunteer with Habitat, please visit our Volunteer Page on our website.
