“My life will be different because I will have the peace of mind knowing I have something to leave my children”
For Falicia Hill, everything she does is for her children. As a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Sabel Palms Health and Rehabilitation, she has dedicated the last four years to caring for others. Now, thanks to Habitat for Humanity, she’s finally seeing her dream of homeownership become a reality—something she never imagined possible. “Oh man, I felt weak and wanted to scream and cry, but I held it together,” she recalls. “It was right before Christmas. I’ll never forget it—it was the best gift I ever received.”
Falicia is a proud mother of three: Calayshia, 14, a fashion-loving teen; Jacoy, 7, an energetic and playful gamer; and Jacai, 2, a curious little explorer who loves Ms. Rachel and Mickey Mouse. Together, they are a tight-knit family that shares everything—from bedrooms to one bathroom in their cramped apartment. “We’ve outgrown the apartment. My daughter sleeps in the room with her brother and she needs her own space,” Falicia explains. “We don’t have a front or back yard, and we live by a busy road. It’s not safe for my kids to play outside.” Thanks to Habitat, a new chapter for Falicia is beginning—one filled with hope, space, and security.
Becoming a Habitat homeowner means more than just owning property—it means leaving a legacy. “My house will be a safe place for me and my children, where we can be ourselves—a judgment-free zone where new memories will be made.” She dreams of decorating rooms, having backyard birthday parties, and finally sitting down together for family dinners.
“I am building because I will be the first person in my family to have bought and built my home,” Falicia proudly shares. “Habitat for Humanity is heaven-sent—angels helping people make dreams into reality.” If you’ve ever considered supporting Habitat’s mission, now is the time. Donate today to help more families like Falicia’s find strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
