“My house will be our forever home. It will be our space, our peace, our family home.”
Christine Espinal is no stranger to perseverance. After going through personal hardships, she and her two young children—Anthony (4) and Araleya (3)—moved into her parents’ one-bedroom condo. “It’s a tight squeeze,” she admits, “but we are grateful for their help while we go through the process of Habitat.”
Christine currently works as an administrative assistant at Stahl Insurance, where she’s been employed for over a year. In the midst of long workdays, parenting, and sharing close quarters with extended family, she still finds the strength to build a brighter future for her children.
Her kids, full of energy and wonder, love the outdoors—playing at splash parks, swimming, jumping at SkyZone, and feeding cows at the Keystone Market. “The space for my babies to be able to run and play in the yard—that’s what I’m most looking forward to,” Christine says with a smile. “I can’t wait to finally get them bikes to learn how to ride.”
When she received her acceptance into the Habitat program, Christine felt one overwhelming realization: “My babies will have their own space. We will have stability in our home and finally be at peace.”
Christine’s vision for her Habitat home is more than just walls and a roof. For her, home is where we will be—a sentiment that speaks to the longing for security and belonging that drives so many Habitat homeowners.
To those who are considering volunteering or applying to the program, Christine offers encouragement from the heart: “Do it! It never hurts to try. You got this!” Volunteer Today!
