“I was so excited I got accepted so that I could start this incredible journey with habitat.”
Naima Ech Chorfi, a hardworking mother of three, is on her way to achieving her dream of homeownership through the Habitat for Humanity program. Naima, who works as a Kids Zone Attendant at the YMCA, has always been dedicated to providing for her family. Her children, Rami (15), Ranya (12), and Razan (9), each have their own passions—basketball, volleyball, art, and video games. While Naima takes great pride in her work and her role as a mother, finding a home that offers security and space for her growing children has been a challenge. “Our current living situation is very small and not secure for my kids,” she explains.
Now, as she earns her sweat equity hours, Naima is learning valuable skills and embracing the process of building her family’s future. “I expect to learn great skills that I will keep with me,” she says. More than just a home, she sees this opportunity as a testament to her hard work and dedication. “I am building because I want my kids to see how hard I worked and all the hard times I’ve had to go through to give them a brand-new home.”
As she looks ahead, Naima envisions a life-changing transformation. “I imagine my future with a Habitat home will be life-changing in so many ways. My kids and I will finally have a space where we can feel comfortable,” she says. The simple joys—a backyard for her children to play in, a spacious and relaxing home—are what she looks forward to most. “Home is where me and my kids can live safe, secure, and comfortable.”
