On Friday, February 25th, 2022, the team from Weston Insurance Management joined Habitat on two build sites in Lealman. Weston is an insurance carrier that specializes in providing insurance against the impact of loss from natural catastrophes to personal and commercial residential and non-residential properties. They are a strong believer in giving back to the community and were excited to get the chance to help build a home for a local family in need.
“Being in the business of Property and Casualty insurance, we often see people’s homes being damaged and destroyed by hurricanes. We usually cut the check for our insureds to rebuild their homes. It is very special for us to roll up our sleeves and build people’s homes,” says Weston’s Kenia Franco, Director of Human Resources. Throughout the day, the team from Weston was able to assist with painting two homes in the Lealman area. In previous builds, the company has assisted Habitat with framing, dry wall, painting, installing closets, and landscaping. “We have all acquired critical skills while also giving back,” Kenia says.
At the end of their shift, Weston’s team presented Habitat for Humanity with a check for $2,500. Habitat is grateful for not only the hours put in, but for the generous donation from the company that will go towards building more safe and affordable homes in our community. With support from our volunteers and corporate partners, Habitat is projected to be able to serve over 210 families in the next three years.
