“I want my family to have a place to call home.”
Tara Sims has dedicated more than a decade of her career to BayCare, where she works as an Operating Room Technician. She is also a proud mother of two adult children and grandmother to two young girls, ages 10 and 4, who bring joy and energy into her life. Education has always been important to Tara — she studied cosmetology at Central Florida College and has carried that sense of learning and growth into every part of her life.
For years, Tara has worked hard to provide stability for herself and her family, often making sacrifices while renting and sharing living spaces. Having a home of her own has been a dream she’s carried with faith and determination, knowing it would mean more than just a roof over her head — it would be a safe place for her family to gather and create lasting memories.
When Tara found out she had been accepted into Habitat’s program, she was overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement. “I was very grateful, excited, thankful,” she recalls. She looks forward to the day she can open the door to her very own home — a place filled with stability, love, and the comfort of knowing it belongs to her. For Tara, her Habitat home will be more than a house; it will be the foundation for generational stability and a legacy of hope for her children and grandchildren.
