Homeowner Bio: The Poole Family

“I am building because walls of protection and a strong steady foundation is needed for my precious family.”

Meet the Poole family – Ashley and Micah are the parents of four wonderful children: David, 13, Elias, 10, Azaria, 7, and Trinity, 2. The family’s journey with Habitat for Humanity is a testament to their resilience and determination to provide a stable home for their children.

David, the eldest son, is a straight-A student with aspirations of becoming a doctor. Elias, also a straight-A student, has a passion for math, art, and sharing his knowledge with others. Azaria enjoys gymnastics and track and her mother describes her as a ‘Jack of all trades’. Trinity, the youngest, is already demonstrating her curiosity by mastering her ABCs, numbers, and colors.

Ashley and Micah’s love story began in the 8th grade. Despite the challenges that came their way, including an unexpected pregnancy at 18, they chose to create a family. Marrying young and gaining responsibilities, they leaned on each other and their faith to navigate the ups and downs. Over more than a decade, their commitment to each other and their family was unwavering.

Acceptance into the Habitat for Humanity program brought a glimmer of hope for the Pooles. “When I got accepted into Habitat I was shocked that something good was actually happening for my family after so many years of need and struggle,” Ashley shares. The high cost of living and low wages had made it challenging for their family of six to maintain stability. The prospect of having a home to call their own offers not only physical security but also a legacy to leave their children.

The Poole family looks forward to making lasting memories and decorating their home according to their dreams. This Habitat journey represents more than just constructing walls; it’s about building a haven of protection and a foundation for their family’s future. As Ashley aptly puts it, “Home is where peace is found.”
