Homeowner Bio: The Hadley Family

“My house will allow me to raise my boys to be men and make memories in our new home.”

Jannese Hadley is a front desk receptionist at Akumin Radiology and single mother who is working hard to accomplish her dream of homeownership for herself and her sons, Jah’Veon and Jah’Len. “I tell my boys that I try my best to be the best mother I can be for them and to provide them with a safe environment,” Jannese explains. Jah’Veon, her oldest son at age 10, loves music and anything to do with sports. His dream is to be a future NBA Superstar. Jah’Len, her youngest at age 7, is often called “my funny guy” by his mother. He loves to make others happy and enjoys sports as well, especially football and track.

Currently, the family of three is living with Jannese’s grandmother’s home which has been extremely challenging. The home is overcrowded with only one bathroom to share and has a lot of maintenance issues, including a floor that is about to cave in and a leaky roof. On top of that, her children are unable to play outside due to how unsafe the neighborhood is. Getting accepted into the Habitat program was truly life changing for the family. “I cried tears of joy,” Jannese tells us. “I immediately called up my boys to tell them the news.” Her sons were incredibly proud of their mother for this accomplishment. They told their her, “Mommy, whenever you tell us you’re going to do something, you do it. You never let us down.”

Jannese and her sons are very excited to have a place they can call their own. “My children will know that nothing comes easy and you need to work hard for what you want in life.” For Jannese, it  has always been a dream goal to set a foundation and to create stability for her family. She is most looking forward to decorating, planting flowers, and sitting out on her front porch watching her children play in the yard.

Many Habitat homeowners in our program choose to decorate their home with furniture purchased from the Habitat ReStores; nonprofit retail centers where new and gently used building materials and home furnishings are sold at discounted prices. Proceeds from the ReStores go back into the Habitat program to provide more homes for families in need. for more information about how you can shop, donate, or volunteer at our ReStores, please visit our ReStore Page on our website.
