This is our way to say thank you to those award recipients for their continued their support to help the advancement of the Habitat mission in our community. In previous years we have recognized Jeff & Judy Mitchell, Mr. George Glaros and Tony & Carol Griffith. At April’s Havana Nights event, we were proud to announce this year’s recipient of the Silver Nail Legacy Award: Dan and Carolyn Stowers. During the event, we showed their award video, narrated by Todd Kalas. We invite you to watch and be inspired.

Dan and Carolyn Stowers’ involvement with Habitat for Humanity spans over 30 years, with 20 of those years specifically at our affiliate in Pinellas and West Pasco counties. As a retired engineer, Dan has become an invaluable volunteer to our affiliate by solely providing engineering services to the construction team and working on permit plans for all of our affiliate’s home builds. Carolyn has assisted Dan in the design aspect of many home plans. A floor plan named “Carolyn” was named in her honor many years ago.

The couple have helped to serve over 648 families in our community. We estimate that Dan is the largest individual donor because of his time volunteering his professional engineering services. Dan has been an integral part of Habitat’s impact and serves as a Weekday Warrior. Both Dan and Carolyn’s serving hearts continue to help not just our local community, but Habitat affiliates around the world. Dan has traveled to Nicaragua, and Guatemala with Habitat Pinellas staff members as part of Habitat’s Global Village Builds. The couple are both active volunteers with their church on nationwide mission trips, and have traveled to South Dakota and Hawaii to volunteer.

A key component of our success and growth is because of Dan and Carolyn Stowers and our organization is stronger today as a result of their commitment to our mission. Eight years ago, Dan was awarded by Habitat for Humanity International with the Clive Rainey Lifetime Achievement Award, and this year we are honored to award both Dan and Carolyn this year’s Silver Nail Legacy Award.[/vc_column_text][nectar_cta btn_style=”arrow-animation” heading_tag=”h4″ text_color=”#ffffff” button_color=”accent-color” link_type=”regular” alignment=”left” display=”block” url=”https://habitatpwp.org/volunteer/” link_text=”To learn more about volunteer opportunities, click here”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
